Cables and systems specialist Draka has joined the HDBaseT Alliance, the pan-industry group established in 2010 to promote, advance and standardise HDBaseT for home and commercial transmission of uncompressed ultra-high-definition multimedia content.
HDBaseT enables a single cable to replace multiple cables and connectors in the business environment and in home entertainment. The cornerstone of HDBaseT is 5Play, a feature set that converges uncompressed ultra-HD digital audio & video, 100BaseT Ethernet, USB 2.0, up to 100 Watts of power over cable and various control signals through a single cable.
The HDBaseT Alliance advances and promotes the adoption of HDBaseT as the global standard for ultra-high definition digital connectivity. As a member of the Alliance Draka will play a pivotal role in defining the future of multimedia transmission, data communication and in driving the development of quality HDBaseT cables.
As an Alliance member Draka will now certify all of its HDBaseT products for compliance to ensure interoperability among current and future HDBaseT products.
Product Manager for UCCONNECT®, Lee Stokes, said: “As part of the Prysmian Group, the world’s leading cable manufacturer, Draka welcomes the opportunity to embrace standardised performance expectations for its HD cable products. Being a member of the HDBaseT Alliance will enable Draka to certify all of its UC Connect HD products to these internationally recognised performance criteria.”
